Telluride is also a fascinating historical location. This city is the first place where the notorious crook and American folk hero Butch Cassidy robbed his first bank. Of course, most people come to Telluride for the glorious outdoor activities. The city is particularly noted for its great skiing. For some great hiking, just outside of town is the especially popular are the easy four mile round trip Bear Creek Canyon Trail, which starts at the end of S. Pine Street and leads to a picturesque waterfall. Another great option is the Jud Wiebe Trail that begins at the north end of Aspen Street and does a 2.7 mile loop above the town, offering views of Bridal Veil Falls, the town, and ski area. The 1.8-mile one way hike to the top of Bridal Veil Falls, which starts at the east end of Telluride Canyon, is also very lovely.
